Can I choose my own smash repairer if I'm claiming on insurance?
It depends on your policy. Many comprehensive policies include a choice of repairer; some only offer it as an optional extra, and some will direct you to their own repair network. Your Product Disclosure Statement will say which applies to you. Call us with your insurer's name and your claim number and we'll help you check before you commit to anything.
The other driver was at fault. What do I do?
Get their name, phone number, rego and insurer at the scene, and take photos of both cars. You can then claim against their insurer rather than your own, which usually means you don't pay your own excess. Send us their details along with photos of your car and we'll help you get the claim moving. If the other driver's insurer is slow to respond, we'll tell you what we're waiting on rather than leaving you guessing.
Do you fix small scratches, scuffs and minor dents?
Honestly, that's not what we're set up for. Hybrid Auto is an accident repair workshop. Our time goes into collision damage, insurance claims and structural repairs. For a single scratch, a scuffed bar corner or a small door ding, a mobile touch-up or paintless dent removal specialist will usually be quicker and cheaper for you. If you're not sure which side of the line your damage falls on, send us a photo and we'll tell you straight.
My car is a hybrid or electric. Does that change the repair?
Yes. Hybrids and EVs carry high-voltage cabling and components that can sit right in the areas that get damaged in a crash. They need to be made safe before panel or structural work starts, then checked before the car goes home. We work on hybrids every day across our rental fleet and battery business, so this is the normal process for us, not an extra.
Will I have a car while mine's being repaired?
Ask us when you book. Our sister business, Hybrid Rentals, runs a fleet of hybrid cars from the same address. If you weren't at fault, the cost of a replacement car can often be claimed from the other driver's insurer. If you were at fault, check whether your own policy includes hire car cover.
How long will my repair take?
It depends on three things: how quickly the insurer assesses and authorises the repair, how quickly parts arrive, and how much damage there is. A bar-and-headlight job and a structural repair are very different timelines. Once we've inspected the car and parts are ordered, we'll give you a realistic date and tell you straight away if anything changes it.
What should I bring or send to get a quote?
Photos of the damage from a few angles plus one of the whole car, your rego, and your insurer's name and claim number if you're claiming. If the car isn't drivable, call us first and we'll talk through getting it to Riverwood. Use the form at the top of this page or call 0418 111 362.
